About this position
The Alabama Farmers Federation and Alfa Mutual Insurance Company employ approximately 2600 employees. These employees are located throughout various states located primarily in the southeast. The Alabama Farmers Federation is a nonprofit organization engaged primarily in promoting the welfare of farmers in the state of Alabama and lobbying the political needs of both farmers and insurance companies with the local, state, and national government agencies and bodies. Alfa Mutual Insurance Company and its related companies are engaged primarily as a direct writer of all types of property and casualty insurance lines as well as life insurance in states located primarily in the southeast.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Support of all claim areas and functions with a focus on special projects and requests from any Claims Manager including the VP and AVP of Claims.MostDifficult Duties in the Position: What are the most challenging or complicated duties of this position in terms of complexity? Position requires person who is self-motivated, able to work well with minimal supervision, and the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced environment where priorities are constantly changing. Approval of Work: Describe how assignments are received and who reviews the work. Is the work reviewed while it is being done or after it has been completed? Projects and requests are received from Claims Managers. Requests for payments, documentation or assistance come from both internal and external customers. Generally the work is reviewed at completion. Decision-Making Authority: What types of decisions is the incumbent required to make? Can they change certain procedures? If so, what approval is required for those changes? You are expected to prioritize the many projects assigned and complete all of them in the timeframe allotted. Supervisory Responsibility: Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? If so please list reporting positions.
Requirements
PRINCIPLE ACCCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Assist internal claims staff and external customers with expediting their needs in the claims process. 25% 2. Assist with claims vendor management by reconciling accounts and ensuring compliance with federal guidelines &/or assist with litigation management through suit logs, defense attorney listing, suit transmittals and transcriptions. 25% 3. Assist management with all projects and special requests 20% 4. Clerical Functions 20% 5. Miscellaneous 10% EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Education: 1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. Bilingual skills are preferred. Experience: 1. None is required. Other Requirements: Position requires the ability to deal with confidential information and meet strict deadlines. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Windows 95 or above, Lotus Notes, AS400, OnBase systems, vendor controlled web base applications for assigning car rentals, windshield claims, vehicle salvage movement, and Toshiba phone system.. Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Basic knowledge of automobile insurance, including good phone skills and accurate typing.
