About this position

We are hiring a General Manager for an international automotive manufacturing company in Grand Rapids, MI. You will be responsible for managing employees of the plant, monitoring work performance, and improving efficiency and processes. We are looking for someone who enjoys a challenging but rewarding work environment. Pay rate: $180k - $200k / year

Tasks & Responsibilities

Management Tasks - Implementing Leadership Principles and guiding employees toward personal responsibility - Planning the effective deployment of employees and conducting orientation and return-to-work interviews - Providing instruction to all employees on the proper performance of tasks - Implementation of appropriate performance monitoring measures - Analysis and optimization of all work and communication processes - Initiating personnel measures (e.g. hiring, labor law measures, leaves of absence) - Conducting regular employee appraisals and providing support to employees for professional and personal development Subject Tasks: - Coordinating with management regarding budgets, strategies and plan specifications - Optimizing and Innovating all processes, utilization rates and efficiency - Decision-making on quality-related issues (e.g. blocking of products, release, scrapping, etc.) - Responsible for the activities of the US sales team to stabilize existing and generate new business - Monitoring budgets, productivity and result development with appropriate KPI's - Implementation and development of quality guidelines and standards in accordance with the IATF - Organization of supply chain processes, including the flow of goods and warehouses. - Informing employees about current issues and planned developments - Responsibility for the recruitment of employees and their training and development - Ensuring the efficient and needs-based use of IT systems and their continuous further development - Ensuring proper bookkeeping and payroll accounting in accordance with legal requirements

Requirements & Benefits

- Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering and demonstrated advanced education/experience in business administration. - At least 10 years of professional experience in companies with thermoplastic assembly and its production processes. - At least 5 years of management experience in comparable companies - Experience in automotive business (for IATF etc.) - Experience in restructuring companies and manage the turnaround - Very good understanding of financial key figures and their impact on the business result - Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and troubleshooting of operational problems - Strategic way of thinking as well as intuition for markets and trends - Very good analytical-conceptual and process-oriented skills as well as a goal-oriented, structured and independent way of working - Hands-on mentality, very good communication and team skills - German language skills - Independent working style, high resilience and entrepreneurial spirit - Business fluent in English
